Jayden’s Story
Jayden's family visited the Lodge in February 2026.

At just 16 years old, Jayden was given the devastating news that he had sinus cancer. It started with a lump in the roof of his mouth. After a visit to the dentist, he was referred to Bristol, where, following multiple biopsies, we received the life-changing diagnosis.
Jayden underwent three operations to remove the tumour. He was initially told he would need radiotherapy, and we asked if this could be transferred to Bath as it was closer to home. However, we were then informed that proton beam radiotherapy would be more effective due to the location of the cancer on his face, with a reduced risk to his hearing, sight, and other vital areas.
As a result, we had to stay in London for nine weeks while Jayden underwent his treatment. Throughout this incredibly difficult time, Jayden never complained. He took each day in his stride with strength beyond his years.
Jayden is a keen footballer and studies football at college. Sadly, this journey has had a huge impact on his dreams. He can no longer play as freely or confidently as he would like due to the risk of being knocked, but even then, he has never moaned.
Jayden has recently been given the wonderful news that he is now in remission. While the fight isn’t completely over — as he continues to have sinus issues and is being referred to another department — we are incredibly grateful that the cancer is gone.
This break means so much to us. Jayden is turning 18, and it would be lovely for him to have some time.
We have followed Ben’s page for a long time, and our family has helped with fundraising.
We never imagined we would be the ones needing to use the lodge, but we are so thankful for this opportunity.
