Sophie's Story

Sophie’s family visited the Cotswolds in February 2026.

In 2015, Sophie was driving and had a seizure, she went to the hospital where they monitored her and said everyone could have one seizure in their lives.
They sent her home, and she continued to live life.

Then, whilst at her boyfriends house, she had another one that was more severe. Her scan revealed she had a brain tumour and soon after it was full speed ahead with surgery booked, which was scary.

Sophie was very courageous and fought it head on. She found day to day living tricky, however she took each day one at a time.

I took her to radio therapy at the marsden and Sophie spoke to lots of people going through a similar thing she tried to make them smile even though she had her own battles.

Covid hit whilst on chemotherapy, and I visited her at her at her boyfriends. Most days, this was very difficult for us both as she just wanted a hug from me absolutely heartbreaking.

4 and half years on she was told there was nothing more can be done I never forget that day I relive it every day , so brave, she took the news whilst I felt like I had been hit by a train.

Sophie moved back home where I nursed her until the day she died on Christmas eve 2020, we miss her every day and our hearts will be forever broken.

I want to thank Ben's foundation for giving us a family the opportunity to get away and try and rebuild and heal as a family.
