Mabel's Story
Mabel's family visited Ben's Retreat in February 2026.
Today we welcome back beautiful Mabel and her family, we hope she has a lovely time swimming 💕
We first stayed here in back July 2023 when Mabel was about 9 months into her cancer journey. (She was diagnosed in October 2023 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at age 4).
She still had her central line in when we visited so was unable to swim. She was gutted because the swimming pool looked so much fun and she’s always been a water baby.
She did however still absolutely love our break (especially the indoor play area) and we had an amazing time. We promised her that when she finished her treatment and no longer had her central line in that we would bring her back so she could enjoy the pool.
So here we are now, finished treatment after two years and two months - Mabel is now 6 and is doing really well.
She’s in Year 1 after deferring a year to make up for the year that she missed. We are so grateful to have Mabel with us and doing so well, we are looking forward to making lots of new memories in 2026 - starting off with this weekend. 🫶🏻
