Ethan's Story

Ethan's family visited the Lodge in December 2025.

Ethan suffered from continuous sickness and constipation from a very early age of which we were in and out of the doctors surgery frequently. At the tender age of 3.5 years, Ethan was diagnosed with a nephroblastoma after we noticed a lump on his left side. Sitting in the hospital and catching the panicked look of the medical staff and the sudden sense of urgency, I immediately knew that something was wrong. We will never ever forget that day, the day that are hearts were broken and are lives would change forever.

Through the 4 years we have been battling Ethan's diagnosis, he has had to endure so much more than any child should, all of which has taken a massive toll on his body. Many rounds of various chemotherapy regimens, radiation and 3 major surgeries have left physical and mental scars however, we still continue to fight. People have asked us throughout our journey how we have remained so strong. The answer has been and continues to be simple and that is Ethan. He has been our strength, our drive, our hope.

We have been fortunate enough to push the boundaries and Ethan has 'trail blazed' various treatments. We are hoping that we are nearing the end of a gruelling 4 years and that Ethan will be in remission very soon. We are hoping that 2026 will give us sometime to reflect and process, where we can be hopeful for the future and continue to create precious memories as a family of 6.

Thank you so much to BSF for this break away. It will allow us to have some precious time together and allow us to gain strength for hopefully what will be Ethan's last bit of treatment in the New Year.
