Thomas' Story

Thomas' family visited the Lodge in June 2026.

Back in February 2023, our son, Thomas at the age of 2 years and ten months, got the diagnosis that no parent ever wants to hear. We got told that our son had a brain tumour called Craniopharyngioma in which affects his pituitary gland as well as his hormones and growth.

After several Mri scans and long stays at Manchester Children's Hospital, we got the news that Thomas needed surgery to bring the tumour under control and to relieve pressure on his brain and so he had an ommaya fitted in order to ease the drainage of fluid from the cyst part of his tumour.

Since this diagnosis, Thomas now has lots of other medical conditions all from the brain tumour. Thomas's condition is stable and he is being monitored closely by his neurosurgical, oncologists and endocrine doctors. Thomas requires daily medication 4 times a day and he takes everything in his stride.

We are so thankful for this break and a break from the clock watching for his medication and hospital appointments
