Amber's Story

Amber's family visited the Cotswolds in June 2026.

Amber was 2 years old when she died suddenly in her sleep on the 23rd August 2023. She was fit and healthy with health conditions, her death came to a huge shock to us, something which we are still only just coming to terms with nearly 3 years later.

Amber was the most beautiful chatty little girl, who was the perfect addition to our family. She adored animals especially dogs and was totally obsessed with Moana, swimming and gymnastics.

We had to wait 18months into the coroners report for Amber’s death and sadly there were no answers. Amber’s death was registered as Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC). We have since learnt that a child dies each fortnight due to SUDC. There is a vast lack of funding into the research of this compared to SIDS which affects babies under 1 year old. We have spent a lot of time as a family fundraising since Amber’s death to support research into SUDC.

We have struggled to plan holidays or simply look forward to anything since Amber died so this stay feels like a positive milestone.

We have created a foundation should you wish to read more the Link is here: https://www.theambertownson.foundation/
