Archie's Story

Archie's family visited the Lodge in June 2025.

Archie has always been happy, healthy and active with a love for football as captain of his team.

During a match in September 2024, Archie asked to come off the pitch as he was suffering from pain in his knees. The pain continued for a few weeks and he started to feel generally unwell. This was followed by excessive nose bleeds, night sweats and a rash appearing on both legs.

On 2nd October, we went to Bristol A&E expecting to be told it was viral and be sent home. Instead, after having a blood test, we were taken into a private room to be told Archie had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

We remained in hospital for 4 weeks, where Archie started his intensive chemotherapy. His nurse also helped us to explain everything to his two younger brothers.

After a couple of difficult hospital stays receiving high dose chemotherapy, Archie really started to struggle with the constant pain, discomfort, isolation and his cancer diagnosis in general. We tried to find something positive that Archie could focus on to help get him through this difficult time. His nurse suggested the Ben Saunders Foundation so we reached out.

We are incredibly grateful that they have offered to support us during this time by giving Archie and the whole family something to look forward to. Thank you ☺️
