Autumn's Story
Autumn's family visited the Cotswolds in August 2024.
Autumn had been suffering with severe headaches and tiredness since the beginning of the year (2023) and she was also being sick a lot.
Initially we thought she was suffering from migraines. We took her to the doctors and they organised an MRI, that came back negative for tumours.
They at this stage diagnosed her with migraines. However her symptoms became worse. After several visits to the doctor and hospital they eventually agreed to a blood test.
On 30 March 2023 Autumn was diagnosed with ALL. Autumn started her chemotherapy in April.
In may she was taken back in hospital with an infection, then again in June Autumn had an infection which resulted in Typhlitis this attached her bowel causing her to have major bowel surgery.
Autumn was put on gut rest and had to have a stoma. It’s hard enough having leukaemia and having aggressive treatment. However the stoma was nothing but problematic constant leaking and tge skin around it was red raw.
After 14 months of enduring this, the stoma was reversed last week. Autumn has recovered really well considering she only has the surgery a week ago.
We hope to resume chemo in about 3 weeks. The last 18 months has been like a rollercoaster however Autumn has really taken each day in her stride.
We hope the remaining treatment will continue hassle free.
Thank you to Ben’s foundation for this much needed break away.
