Noah's Story

Noah's family visited Ben's Retreat in April 2026.

Noah is a twin to his sister Naima and a bright, smiley little boy who loves numbers, vehicles, and cooking.

Shortly after his second birthday, Noah became unwell. In May 2022, we received the devastating news that he had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. He was rushed by ambulance under blue lights to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) to begin treatment.

During his first round of chemotherapy, Noah developed a serious fungal infection that spread to his brain and caused a stroke. He was once again rushed to GOSH, where he spent 70 nights in hospital. For half of that time, he was unable to move or even open his eyes.

An emergency brain biopsy allowed doctors to identify the infection and deliver targeted treatment. Slowly, Noah began to recover—first moving, then talking, and, with intensive physiotherapy, eventually walking again.

In August 2024, Noah completed his treatment and proudly rang the bell.
However, in February 2025, he became unwell again. A CT scan revealed fluid on his brain, and he was rushed back to GOSH for a third time. Surgeons inserted a shunt to relieve the pressure, but tests showed that his cancer had returned.

Noah then underwent CAR T-cell therapy, which successfully cleared the cancer. However, doctors have confirmed that without ongoing treatment, the cancer is almost certain to return.

He is now on oral maintenance chemotherapy until June 2027, with the hope that this treatment will keep the cancer away for good.
