Jade's Story
Jade's family visited the Lodge in March 2026.

Jades story began in 2024 when she was 22 years old she started getting headaches that led onto debilitating migraines. We took her to the doctors many times but was told it’s migraines and was given medication.
Unfortunately the medication didn’t work and the migraines became more regular and stronger. While Jade was going through this she was still managing to care for her 2 year old son and maintaining her own home.
May 26th 2025 was the day of her first unconscious seizure while at a family BBQ. An ambulance was called and as a family we were finally hoping to get some diagnostic tests and some answers. Unfortunately A&E did not do any tests and sent her home within a few hours again with a migraine medication.
After taking Jade myself to see the doctor as her mum I felt something was wrong. She then got referred to an epilepsy nurse and put on medication for epilepsy which did nothing.
Jade had her first brain scan September the 3rd 2025. We got the results September 23rd a day before her son’s 3rd birthday Jade was told she has a cancerous brain tumour.
Our world fell apart that day and the next day we had to try put on brave faces for celebrating my grandsons 3rd birthday but we were all consumed with the unknown and broken hearts.
We saw a neurosurgeon a couple weeks later that said the first step will be surgery as the tumour was 7cm by 4cm.
Jade underwent 12 hour brain surgery on 23rd October. The incredible surgeon at Bristol Southmead hospital was able to remove 95% of her tumour.
Since then Jades physical recovery has been amazing. She has been diagnosed with Stage 2 astrocytoma tumour with a prognosis of 6-8 years. She’s allowed two rounds of Radiation and chemotherapy the first will start when the tumour shows signs it’s “misbehaving” and this is expected to be anytime within the next 2 years.
Jades having regular scans to keep an eye on it and waiting for the results creates so much anxiety and tension for us but especially Jade.
It’s been a lot to process for us as a family and our best way to cope is to enjoy every moment, memory and time we all have.
We are currently sat in your beautiful lodge where Jade is able to relax in the peaceful surroundings and we are able to make and cherish our memories made here. We would not of had this quality time together if it wasn’t for this incredible foundation and we are forever grateful for giving us this opportunity. We will never forget this. RIP Ben you will never walk alone. ❤️
