Hannah's Story

Hannah's family visited the Lodge in September 2026.

Hi my name is Hannah and I got diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 22. I got diagnosed with ductal carcinoma and had two 45mm tumours in my right breast.

As you can imagine it was a massive shock, but my family and I have got through it together.

Since being diagnosed I have undergone 8 sessions of chemotherapy, a simple mastectomy with a full axilla node clearance, 15 sessions of radiotherapy, hormone replacement therapy and I am now going to be on injections and tablets for the next 5 years.

I still can’t believe I’ve gone through everything I’ve gone through, but yet still so positive. I’ve tried to have a positive outlook throughout all of this and to be honest I couldn’t be more proud of my body!

I have had many ups and downs through my journey as you can imagine. I was admitted to hospital with a blood clot on the lung and then half way through my chemotherapy sessions, they changed my chemotherapy type, which made me really ill and admitted to the hospital again with vomiting etc.

The team at Torbay hospital have been amazing and I couldn’t ask for a better oncology and breast team.

My partner Ed has stuck by me the whole way through, so we are really looking forward to this lovely break away, and on top of this, it’s my birthday week!!

Thanks again to Ben Saunders Foundation, it’s such a wonderful thing to do for a family that is or has been going through a really tough time 🥰
