Danielle's Story

Danielle and her family visited the Lodge from 4th March.

"My journey started back in September 2022 when i noticed I’d got a swollen arm pit, I went to the doctors and she gave me antibiotics but they didnt seem to work.

Then in October 2022 I found a lump in my right breast and again went to the doctors where they referred me to the breast clinic.

Once there they did an ultrasound and the doctor there said it was just glandular tissue nothing to worry about and he would see me again in 6-8 weeks time.

Within a week and a half my boob had doubled in size so I went back to my gp who said it could be mastitis and again gave me antibiotics and then saw me again in 2 days time. He wasnt happy so got me back in at the breast clinic.

They did another ultra sound nothing showed in my breast so they had a look in my armpit which showed I had swollen lymph nodes. They performed a biopsy and roughly 1-2 weeks later I had a phone call asking me to go in to see them. This was when I told I had breast cancer and they were still waiting for more results to come back.

I was also sent for a ct and a mri scan. I Went to see oncology in November 2022 and they told me I had Triple Negative Breast cancer and the weren’t sure if it had spread to my liver as they could see shadows on my liver on the scan.
They sent for a pet scan which i had in December 2022 and In January 2023 I went back to oncology who told me that it had spread to my liver and the cancer is incurable. I will just be having chemo to keep it at bay for as long as they can."
